Is DigiTown The Future of Gambling and Technology Start-Ups?

Armenia has proven to be a gem in the global technology sector. This small beautiful country, that was once the hub of Soviet Russian innovation, has a wealth of highly skilled people, is rated one of the easiest regions to do business in and is relatively cost-effective given the rates for equivalent services and expertise in the other parts of Europe, the UK and North America.

This has seen Armenia dubbed the ‘Silicon Valley of the Caucasus’ and resulted in an influx of both start-ups and established digital businesses setting down roots in the region.

One of these success stories is the Armenian-based sports betting provider, Digitain, who such brands as Toto Gaming, Argo Casino and YourBet. The now-multi gambling product provider started life in 1999 as a National Lottery. Today the provider boasts more than 2000 staff and is a one-stop-shop for any gambling operators with over 3000 aggregated casino games, Live Dealer games, stat-based sports betting and all manner of support ranging from marketing to financial screening on offer.

The team at Digitain have been looking at how they can further support the growth of the technology and gambling sector in both Armenia and the greater Caucasus region. Their solution is both astounding in its breadth of thinking and financial investment.

At the recent World Congress on Information Technologies in Armenia, Digitain announced their plans for a tech-hub cheekily named ‘DigiTown’ which will focus on facilitating the expansion of the Caucasian technology sector.

Suren Khachatryan of Digitain explained their hopes for the development:

“As well as attracting investment and fostering entrepreneurship; we’re also looking forward to connecting with the Armenian global diaspora, many of whom will be getting involved in making our country a true open window to the tech world!”

DigiTown is slated to offer free development space as well as access to all relevant systems and services for one year to qualifying tech and mobile start-ups.

Far from being a publicity grab, development on the projects Yerevan HQ is underway with ground already being broken. Digitain is looking to make its mark in the digital sector both online and offline.
