Italy Receives Much Needed Financial Relief From Skrill & Pornhub

In a strange turn of events, one of the nation’s hardest hit by the recent COVID-19 outbreak has been Italy. While only a fraction of the size of China the death toll has already crossed the 2900 mark compared to China who has just over 3200.

With a much older population than other European countries, Italy’s 35700 cases have resulted in an 8.3% mortality rate. This is a staggering toll when compared to China which only has a 4% mortality rate.

Two rather diverse, and yet equally valid, companies have reached out to beleaguered Italy in a show of support – Skrill and Pornhub:

  Fee Free Italy

Italian born Skrill CEO, Lorenzo Pellegrino, said:

“I am utterly heartbroken to see this situation unfold in my home country. By removing all fees and foreign exchange mark ups, people who are sending money to loved ones in Italy from outside of the country will see more of their funds going to the right place.”

This move by Skrill will be greatly beneficial to those in quarantine who now need to shop online and handle other critical financial transactions. Being able to send money to friends and family in Italy will also mean more money getting to those who need it most, a laudable move by Skrill.

 Helping Hands

In a bid to provide some relief to the thousands of quarantined Italians Pornhub tweeted that up until April 13th their premium content service would be free to Italian subscribers. This generous offer has naturally gained them a lot of support on Twitter.

In addition to free premium memberships, Pornhub has also pledged financial support to Italian hospitals to help them in the fight against the infectious disease.

"Pornhub has decided to donate its Modelhub March revenue to help Italy overcome the emergency. To keep you company at home during these weeks, you'll be able to access Pornhub Premium for free for the whole month, with no need for a credit card".

Modelhub is a Pornhub subsidiary where visitors can “purchase videos, tip, and become fans of thousands of Models”. Donating the full March 2020 revenues from this company could see local hospitals receive the money they need to purchase much-needed supplies and equipment.

 Rubber Meet Road

While many companies around the world are expecting pats on the back for allowing staff to work from home or offering paid time off it is heartening to see two companies go that extra mile to help a nation under siege.

We can only hope that as time marches on we will see more companies, happy to profit from various nations, begin to offer them the support they now need.
