Transport in Las Vegas back to normal after Trump's rally. With much room for expansion, the launch of the Boring Company's loop will ease the traffic congestion within the city.
President Donald Trump held a "Keep America Great" rally in Las Vegas last Friday at the Las Vegas Convention Center; following his re-election bid for the coming general elections in the Silver State. The Las Vegas rally marked the end of three days of rallies in the Colorado, Arizona and finally the Nevada States.
The three-day visit, however, caused traffic snarls as primary routes to and around the airport were closed following the president's arrival. President Donald J. Trump made his first appearance on Thursday last week during a 'Graduation ceremony for Hope for prisoners' that was held at the Metropolitan Police Department headquarters. His last appearance was during his campaign rally that was held on Friday noon at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
With Trump out of the Silver State, normality has since resumed on all roads that were temporarily closed.
Construction of the Underground Transportation Tunnel is Back in Loop
Speaking of traffic, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, it won't be the same for long. Elon Musk's Boring Company recently finished excavating the first of two tunnels for a new transportation system that will run underneath the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC). The second tunnel will run parallel to the first, creating a loop to carry people back and forth.
The connector tunnel popularly referred to as the Convention Center Loop was designed to serve as an innovative, fun and quick means of transportation in the city. A whooping sum of $52.5 million was invested in the underground transportation system whose boring started on November 15.
The underground tunnel will consist of three passenger stations connecting the convention Centre's 3.2 million-square-foot space with the West Hall that is currently under construction. The first station will be at the Convention Center's South Hall, the second between the central and North Halls, and the third at the West hall. The tunnel will be operated by electric vehicles (modified Tesla Model 3 and Model X cars) that have a capacity of transporting 4,400 people in a single hour.
According to the Boring Company, underground cars will move at speeds up to 155 miles per hour. This means that travelling from one station to another will only take one minute down from a 15-minute walk! The tunnel is set, and all that remains is testing the system for three months before being approved for public use.
Since the launching of the project, it has taken 3 months to excavate the first tunnel to its completion, 40 feet below the ground. The second phase of the project is due to begin. The Boring Company is looking forward to expanding the project to other regions of Las Vegas, including the Strip and the airport. Officials say that they have a goal of achieving a connecting tunnel running all the way to Los Angeles. This will be an exceptionally effective transportation system as residents from the two cities will be able to visit one another in just a few minutes.
