Join us as we learn about one of the nicest progressive jackpot winners of all time. Michael Clark, nicknamed Micky Millions, shares his incredulous realisation that his £1.40 mobile slot spin landed him a multi-million Pound win!
2023 could not have had a better start for the part-time punter and British family man, Michael Clark. The Newcastle local beamed as he recounted how playing a couple of spins on “just a slot game” turned his world upside down when it rewarded him an incredible £5.4 million progressive jackpot!
When Your Win Looks Like a Mobile Number
Clark, now affectionately called “Micky Millions” by his mates, became Betfred casino's biggest jackpot winner when his £1.40 stake on King Kong Cashpots slots triggered the casino games’ lucrative bonus feature.
Speaking to the operator in a video interview Micky and his fiancée Sherelle Pooley shared how they were having a relaxing evening when Micky decided to open the mobile casino app to have a flutter.
Quote“I got onto a bonus round expecting a little win of £100 or something. I was lucky enough to get onto the Jackpot King. I was the lucky guy who landed on the top. I was the lucky guy who landed the jackpot.”
His chuckle is infectious as he remembers misreading the jackpot total:
Quote“I wasn’t concentrating too much because I thought it was £5000. Then I realised that was too many numbers for £5000. It looked more like a mobile number!”
He continued to share how when the reality of his situation dawned on him, he was overcome with emotion. In another interview, he shared that he called his mum and dad and just wept from the weight of it all.
Nice Guys Don’t Always Finish Last
His kind, genuine, down-to-earth personality shines through in every written interview, YouTube video and photograph of Newcastle's newest millionaire.
Even the Founder of Betfred, Fred Done, had this to say about his latest winner:
Quote“This proves nice guys can win. Michael is the most worthy of winners. It is brilliant news for this smashing couple.”
The 32-year-old father of three is a care worker for a local mental health unit, and while he is taking a vacation to deal with everything plans to return to work once the dust settles. Even his fiancée, who currently cares for her elderly grandmother, will continue as her caregiver, promising to “still look after her doing all the shopping and everything else”.
The lucky winner, a family man at his core, plans to buy the family's "forever home" in the British countryside, help out his parents, and install a new stairlift in his gran’s house.
Most importantly, he is determined to stay grounded and grateful:
Quote"We are determined to stay grounded and not go too crazy… although we’re also determined to enjoy life to the fullest. We’re just two very lucky people who were brought up on a council estate and went to comprehensive school but have always tried to be kind to others… and now we are rich beyond our dreams.”
What is really lovely is that this unexpected turn of fortune has allowed them to plan their perfect wedding. As Geordies, the couple will celebrate their love for one another and their favourite football team, Newcastle United, by having their wedding at the St. James’ Park football stadium. They will top off their nuptials with a romantic honeymoon in sunny Jamaica.
