New Danish Video Campaign Addresses Problem Gambling Head On

Denmark’s gambling regulator Spillemyndigheden has taken to social media, streaming services and television to address the issue of problem gambling.

Director of the Danish Gambling Authority, Birgitte Sand, said:

“The purpose of spending resources on a nationwide campaign is first and foremost to increase the Danes’ awareness about StopSpillet. We want to make the Danes aware that there is an impartial, confidential and free helpline for players, relatives and professionals. It is crucial that all Danes know that help is available if you – or someone you know – have ended up in an unfortunate situation due to gambling.”

Rather sticking to articles and static advertisements promoting StopSpillet, the Gambling Authority’s guide to problem gambling and addictive behaviour, they have opted for a commendable video-centric approach.

✓Spillemyndigheden’s Pokerfjæs Campaign

The Pokerfjæs ad campaign comprises three 30-second videos that focus on the impact on gambling addiction – on both the gambler and their loved ones. The ad campaign stars three people covering both sexes, varying level of responsibility and a spread of ages.

The films will follow a father, a mother and a young football player, and show the audience through voiceover and behind the scenes footage how they lie to friends and family to cover up their addiction while revealing their inner thoughts and feelings about what they’re doing.

The aim of the campaign is to embrace the reality of gambling addiction while helping those affected by it to see through the shame they feel and seek the help they need through the services offered by StopSpillet.
