The iGaming Industry Supports Charities and Safer Gambling

The online casino industry isn’t all flashing lights and big wins. There are times when casinos, software providers, and industry leaders come together to do good. Here are 5 instances where iGaming companies supported charities and did good deeds around the world.

 Playson Gives Back to Ukraine

Playson is a popular developer that we’ve all enjoyed seeing grow over the last few years. As their ten-year of growth celebration, Playson has decided to make donations to six Ukraine charities firstly as a notion of appreciation for assisting in their tremendous growth. Secondly, in aid of the difficult times the country is going through in all economic sectors.

Playson donated to Prytula Foundation, Come Back Alive, Tabletochki, Be Kind, Dobro, and Enjoying Life. Ten lucky players with the highest score received a €1,000 donation to the charity of their choice.

This online charity tournament was an excellent way to reach a large audience. Since Playson has around thirty-three million active players, we are enthusiastic that they chose the right way to do fundraising.

 ICE London 2023 Raised Funds For Safer Gambling

This year saw the largest gathering of industry experts and innovators at ICE London 2023. During the course of the event, $63,798 was raised which will fund four groups committed to assisting with the effects of problem gambling. 

Each of the four charities: British organizations Better Change and Betknowmore, the American National Council on Problem Gambling, and the Dutch AGOG, will receive a quarter of the funds raised to generate solutions to a more responsible gambling future.

Ewa Bakun, the Director of Industry Insight and Engagement at Clarion Gaming, shared her excitement about the funds raised and thanked all contributors for assisting in the reinforcement of the organisations to produce a safer gambling field for everyone.  

 Three charities received £12,000 donation from Merkur Casino

Over December, Merkur Casino generously donated £12,000 ($14,500) to three charities, including Action for Children, Willen Hospice, and FareShare. Due to donations, over 220 children received Christmas gifts, patients and nurses received Christmas and Boxing Day meals, and 2100 families had hot meals over the festive season at the close of 2022.

Mark Schetle, from Merkur Casino, voiced that it was an honour to be a Secret Santa to organisations that give so much back to the community and the members who work there. Merkur Casino wants to help groups that help people.

 Bally’s Corp Supports Responsible Gambling Research Studies

A whopping $600,000 in donations was provided by Bally's Corporation to the International Center for Responsible Gaming, a non-profit organisation aiming to prevent and treat gambling-related harm. 

Bally's Corp voiced its concern about the ever-growing issue of problem gambling, especially in young adults. The growth of gambling is at a peak now more than ever due to more countries legalising gambling, and support is much needed to ensure safer gambling.

The donation and support provided by Bally's Corporation shows their concern for the safety and understanding of safe gambling and the impact of uneducated gamblers on the iGaming industry.

 GambleAware Paves the Future of Safer Gambling

GambleAware is a British charity aiming to protect players and potential players from the harms of unsafe gambling. They recently revealed that £13,209,805 in donations came from companies inside the iGaming industry in 2022 alone. 

Entain and Bet365 hold the majority of donations, as their contributions amounted to 90.4% of the total. Since 2020, donations have increased thanks to a partnership with BGC, which aims to increase funding by iGaming contributors, developers, providers, and players. The funds donated by the four major providers result from 1% of their annual profits. 

The BGC and members in the iGaming industry, who currently make up the majority of donations to GambleAware, aim to assist in safer gambling. GambleAware continues to keep transactions and fund-placement transparent. Along with its main contributors, it is paving the way to a safer industry by providing education and support where needed.
