Popular competitive gaming streamer NickMercs has been streaming online slots as part of his $10 million non-exclusive agreement with video platform Kick.com and its financial backer Stake Casino.
Over the last few years, online casino games and live streaming on platforms like Twitch.tv and Kick.com have regularly made headlines together, especially when it came to light that Kick was owned and operated by the co-founders of the popular Stake Casino.
When Twitch made the silly decision to seemingly ban all online gambling, despite the growing popularity of its instant slots category, it allowed Kick’s pro-gambling stance and better revenue split (95%-5% versus Twitch’s 50%-50%) to draw away many small to medium size streamers.
Big Money, No Whammies, Guaranteed
With their background in online gambling, the people behind Kick.com know when to cash out and when to double down, and Twitch’s faux pas was the ideal time for them to go all in on landing big-name gambling streamers.
One of the leading gaming streamers to make the move, albeit not exclusively, was Nick "NickMercs" Kolcheff, who signed with Kick for a cool $10 million. While Nick was known to dabble in sports betting occasionally on Twitch, even partnering with Barstool Sports at once, he never openly played slots; however, this has changed since he started streamlining on Kick.
It is becoming more common to see posts like the following on his social media:
Quote“BIG gamba stream comin’ in! $50K start. $100K currently. We’ll throw a HUGE giveaway if we keep this energy — Cya soon gang ?”
His team even had some fun redesigning the logo for the fan favourite Big Bass Bonanza online slot into the “Big Mercs Bonanza” to announce which casino game he would be playing that evening, and stating:
Quote“Yesterday was a rollercoaster, but we finished UP & that’s a W!”
The streaming platform and Stake Casino were shown to over 500,000 social media users from these two posts alone. Not to mention the countless articles discussing the topic and commentary from other streamers – some for and some against his decision - act as unpaid promotions.
Spin These Reels To Test Your Luck
Now, Nick did clarify on his recent livestream that he is paid to play online slots as part of his contract, meaning he is given a bankroll to spin with and most likely receives some fixed or hourly rate for his time online.
That being said, if you are an avid online slots fan, you should check out the games he has played on stream for yourself.
Always remember that the outcome of these video slots is based on pure chance, which means that anyone could walk away a winner, regardless of the size of their bankroll. Be sure to set a budget you can afford and enjoy the setting, features, and gameplay, but never chase losses or gamble online when you’re not clear-headed.
