The newly formed UK Association of Sports Tipping aims to take the guesswork out of finding a trustworthy tipping service. Will UKAST be the final nail in the coffin for rogue tipsters?
As long as sports betting has existed there have been Sports Tipping services where those in the know are willing to impart their insights for a fee. While historically these services have been established companies the rise of social media has led to individual “experts” amassing large followings who take their advice at face value – often because online gurus give their tips away for free.
The burning question that arises from this new free digital economy is what do you do when these rogue tipsters seed their genuine tips with flawed tips so they can bet against their own followers and reap ill-gotten rewards?
UKAST Has Entered the Fight
The problem with questionable sports tipping is so rampant in the UK that a voluntary organisation UKAST (UK Association of Sports Tipping) has been formed by two longstanding service reviewers.
With more than two thousand tipping service reviews under their combined belts, Chris Sowerby and Peter Philipson have teamed up to expose rogue tipsters to the public.
Their website clarifies their statement of intent saying:
“UKAST’s aim is to offer independent verification and accountability for tipster services operating in the UK. We provide objective information to allow potential customers to make informed choices about tipster services, whilst at the same time providing genuine and authentic services with a recognisable accreditation that attests to their fairness, transparency and integrity.”
The aim of UKAST is to inform and protect the betting enthusiasts from being abused by bad actors, while also highlighting trustworthy services at the same time.
Best Foot Forward
UKAST is accepting review requests from sports tipping services who are willing to have their practice scrutinised, and in return be exposed to UKAST’s audience as a trustworthy resource.
The code of conduct for approved services includes:
The intention of these rules is to ensure a standardised service level that allows both for the tipping service to be held accountable, and for punters to have the security that the advice they receive is fair and trustworthy.
