Andar Bahar
Overview
When exploring the origins of andar bahar, it’s reputed that this card game was spawned in the state of Karnataka within the city of Bangalore. Having transitioned online, andar bahar is now played across a number of casino sites. Although the rules can vary slightly between online casinos, these are the most common rules for andar bahar.
Most commonly, there is a deck of 52 cards and the players have the option of betting on andar or bahar. Whilst waiting for the first card to be dealt, the players have the option to place side bets on the suit or rank. Despite being referred to as “the joker”, the first card isn’t played as wild.
Andar Bahar Betting Options
When the first card has been dealt, the players can choose to bet on andar or bahar. The dealer will then draw new cards until they have pulled out another card that matches the rank of the middle card, which was drawn first. The other cards that are drawn will be displayed on either side of the middle card that appears on the table.
After matching the middle card, the dealer will tally all of the cards. If there is an odd number after the initial card has appeared, then this will result in a win for the andar bet. However, the bahar bet shall win if the total is even. Within andar bahar, these basic bets can payout from 0.9/1 up to 0.95/1 depending on the casino site.
Regarding the side bets, the middle card offerings include above or below 8, exactly 8, specific suit, specific colour, 2 to 10, or specific rank (11.45/1). When betting after the middle card, the side bets can include 20+, 1 to 5, 6 to 10, 11 to 15, 16 to 25, 26 to 30, 31 to 35, 36 to 40, and 41+ (119/1).
