New York Craps
Overview
Hailing from the east coast of America, New York craps can also be played in the UK, Bahamas, Balkans, and with participating online casino sites. With New York craps, there will even be a learning curve for seasoned players of classic craps, given that the rules, betting table, and house edge have been modified.
Double-end Table
In a land-based casino, two dealers are required to staff the table for New York craps. As such, the table can be referred to as “double-end dealer”. Ultimately, this is because there is a position for each dealer at either end of the table. Of course, software and a random number generator (RNG) will be responsible for powering New York craps online.
No Pass or Come Out
In classic craps and other variants, the pass and come out bets are fundamental to the operation of the game. However, New York craps makes a complete departure by removing the pass and come out bets from the rules.
The Point
While New York craps has retained “the point”, the value will differ compared to classic craps. And this is because the point will be established if the shooter (player) rolls 2, 3, 11, or 12. After establishing the point, the shooter will try to roll that value again.
Box Bets
In New York craps, the most common type of wager is to place a bet on a box number. With 2, 3, 11, or 12 defined as point numbers, that leaves the box numbers as 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10. When playing this variant, please consult the betting table for details of the payout odds.
House Edge
Before playing New York craps, users should understand that this variant has a relatively high house edge of 5.00%. Comparatively, there is a significantly lower house edge of 1.41% that can be obtained by placing bets on pass or come out in classic craps.
