By Shane Addinall May 22, 2020 Game ReleaseSpin to fight your way through the classic Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Slot™ bringing down opponents and bosses till you get to go head to head with the villainous M. Bison and earn rich rewards.Street Fighter II: The World Warrior first hit the arcades in 1991 it was an instant hit. The kids would cluster around the machine doing their best to stack their coins against the screen to book their place in line to show the game, and their friends, who the real World Warrior really is.
Those kids are all grown up now and moved on with their lives, those competitive and entertaining moments lost in the mists of time, that is until NetEnt announced the launch of the official Capcom approved Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Slot™.
Bryan Upton, NetEnt Director of Games said:
“In developing Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Slot™ we felt a huge responsibility to ensure our slot game lived up to the iconic 90s original – a videogame which has continued to entertain fans for almost 30 years.”
No need to stand in line to punch M.Bison in the face anymore, this slot released today and is available on desktop pc, tablet and your mobile phone so you can kick pixelated butt whenever and wherever you want to.
Anime Inspired Arcade Action
Where NetEnt immediately won us over was the setting and design of Street Fighter II: The World Warrior Slot. Where other branded slots take a few assets and cram them into a slot interface NetEnt took the arcade layout of Street Fighter II and integrated a slot machine.
“Authenticity was a critical factor to the design of this game, from the arcade-inspired art and sounds to the game mechanics, as well as the Beat the Bosses and Car Smashing bonus rounds. We designed the game to fuel players’ nostalgic competitiveness throughout the gameplay.”
The game begins with you selecting 1 of 8 available Fighters each of which has their own special power-up. As in the arcade, your fighter then travels to the dojo of their opponent to do battle. Each dojo is themed after your opponent’s country of origin.
Face Dhalsim amidst a herd of elephants while fights against Blanka take place in the depths of the Amazon jungle. Each setting is unique and entertaining, if not overly reliant on regional stereotypes.
The high-value fighter symbols are split into two variants. The Victory symbol for your fighter will payout up to 30x bet for a full cluster set, while the Defeat symbol for the same character pays out a maximum of 20x your bet.
Bonus features incorporate fondly remembered in-game activities such as the scene where you would be called on to beat a car into a pile of scrap rubble (used for the Car Smash Bonus game) or jump into a boss fight (used for the Beat The Boss Free Spins game).
Uppercut Your Way To Big Wins
The slots high variance gameplay is captivating as in addition to the low-value Royal card symbols the only high-value symbols on the reels are those of your selected fighter and their opponent. Creating winning Cluster combinations of either fighter on the 5x5 reel set will cause their opponent's health meter to drain getting you closer to triggering a special feature.
✓Colossal Symbols
To help you fill your Wild meter, drop your opponent’s health bar and stack up big wins both Victory and Defeat variants of your fighter and your opponent can appear on the reels at random as a Colossal 2x2 symbol. For payout purposes, this symbol counts as a 4 symbol cluster of matching symbols.
