GameCo to Offer Esports and Skills-Based Betting with iGameCo
By Shane Addinall Aug 10, 2020 IndustryiGameCo to offer skill-based gaming, esports betting, and free play gambling through regulated sport books and online casinos in New Jersey.Known for its pioneering approach in uniting the experience of video games with the excitement of gambling, GameCo has launched an esports betting offering to make skills-based games of chance available through iGameCo.
Basic Background
GameCo is the company that created the world’s first video game gambling machines (VGM) a few years ago with great success. Users loved the combination of fun and interactivity similar to video games that included the thrill of gambling where they needed to use elements of both skill and chance in order to succeed.
With gameplay ranging from match games and puzzles to action, racing and sports, the VGMs had both single and multiplayer options where players could participate in tournaments.
iGameCo Initiative
The new initiative will add value by offering esports betting, free play gambling and skills-based iGaming for regulated US and international sportsbooks and online casinos.
CEO and co-founder of GameCo, Blaine Graboyes, commented on the new offering:
“iGameCo is the culmination of years of research and development in combining video games and esports for regulated casinos. We’re expanding the category to bring this experience to regulated gaming markets worldwide, providing casinos with the products to attract and monetize the next generations of customers.”
Given the boost experienced in 2020 thanks to the novel Coronavirus lockdown, experts are predicting that esports will generate around $17,000,000,000 this year alone.
When lockdown canceled many live games and sporting events, the ability to bet on virtual matches offered gamblers the chance to use their skills to place bets on the outcome of these matches.
After Lockdown
Even once lockdown is lifted, bettors no longer have to deal with the frustration of inclement weather or injured players who could affect their chances of betting on live matches.
With the valuable pieces of information like player aggregates and stats that are available before esports matches begin, bettors have all they need to know in order to make educated guesses about the outcome.
So, there is a good chance that the rise of esports betting will continue well after this pandemic is over.
Is Esports Betting Legal?
New Jersey is once again a front runner when it comes to online gambling as they issued GameCo with their Casino Service Industry Enterprise License. This state is one of the few that allows esports betting. However, they tend to set the trend that other states follow.
Colorado, Nevada, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington have all legalised esports betting in their states and, with the rise in popularity, many other states are sure to follow in the future.
GameCo is now licensed in over 25 jurisdictions across Europe and the US.
