Binance Jumps To China’s Aid Amidst Coronavirus Outbreak
By Shane Addinall Jan 27, 2020 OpinionDespite China's hard stance on non-government owned crypto-companies Binance has come to their aid in support of the victims of the recent Coronavirus outbreak. China puts plans in place to build a full-stack hospital in one week. The recent outbreak of the Wuhan Coronavirus has seen the deaths of less than 100 souls to date however it is estimated that more than 2800 people are infected with the disease. The virulent contagion was first identified by professionals in Wuhan China hence the name
The disease in its current form is transmitted reportedly transmitted person-to-person which can see it travel the world as visitors to Wuhan take the virus home with them. Travellers are advised to not touch strangers and to wear high-quality masks to reduce the risk of infection.
✓China Springs Into Action
Having learned their lesson from the bird flu outbreak the Chinese government has not been sitting idly by. They have effectively quarantined more than 60 million people using a clever implementation of limited travel between 15 key cities.
Chinese scientists were also quick to share their research on the Coronavirus with their international peers to allow them to hopefully pre-empt the arrival of the disease in their country.
The most impressive feat of all is the planned custom-built hospital that the government aims to have built-in approximately one week. The plans for the hospital were based on those of the Xiaotangshan SARS hospital in Beijing and will be able to house more than 1300 beds.
✓Paying It Forward
Despite making the move from China to Malta due to the nation’s stance on non-government owned crypto businesses Binance has not forgotten its roots. CEO, Changpeng Zhao tweeted out:
"Binance pledged 10m RMB ($1.5m USD) to help #coronavirus victims. We didn’t make any announcements. But BCF/Binance team has been busy for the last few days. Still need help to arrange logistics locally"
This in response to a request to know how much the blockchain and crypto-exchange company had donated in support of the victims of the Coronavirus.
He also Tweeted out an additional call for assistance stating:
“All N95 masks in China, Japan and surrounding regions are sold out. We bought 8000+ medical masks but also having difficulties sending them to Wuhan. If you know of logistics channels that still work, please do share,”
Given the virulent nature of the infection, those masks alone are worth their weight in gold when it comes to saving the elderly and young children from becoming infected as their weaker physiology makes them most likely to succumb to the disease.
✓Inspiring Involvement
Hot on the heels of the Binance tweets Blockchain marketing services company, Krypital, announced that they have launched a fundraising campaign aimed at helping the Wuhan community acquire the medical supplies they need.
In addition to this, they are in the process of building a blockchain-based donation system which will accept Ethereum and Tether coins to allow for easy processing, tracking and sharing of Wuhan donations.
