Sin City Sportsbooks Start Accepting New Players via Drive-Thru Services
By Jeff Osienya May 10, 2020 IndustryLas Vegas operators are getting creative to ensure they facilitate betting in March’s upcoming sports events. South Point and Circa Sports are already taking in new players via drive-thru style registrations.According to Nevada gambling laws, anyone interested in betting on sports is required to first visit a casino physically to register for a mobile betting account. But then, the current pandemic had derailed the practice of new sign-ups because the state government had issued a stay at home order and closure of all non-essential business.
Now that the stay-at-home orders are gradually being relaxed, gambling operators have resorted to an interesting approach to reel in more registering players to their mobile betting products. While making sure that they are adhering to social distancing regulations, sports betting companies in the Silver State have introduced registration drive-thrus for anyone who wants to sign up for online betting.
Sportsbook operators definitely don’t want to miss out on the action after the UFC and NASCAR announced that they have upcoming events this month.
South Point Casino Leads the Way
South Point was the first operator to start offering the service to its new patrons on its valet parking premises starting Wednesday, 6th March. The property’s valet entrance has effectively been transformed into a makeshift drive-thru booth for registration. The casino’s workers were there with face masks to help customers with account creation and depositing funds into existing betting accounts.
Any resident who’s attained at least 21 years, the legal gambling age in the state, is allowed to create an account and load their first buy-in without having to leave their car. However, this drive-thru facility is only open for new sign-ups and not for placing wagers. Moreover, given that employees aren’t allowed to take cash out of the casino, players who want to withdraw from their accounts are instead encouraged to use an in-app form to receive their payout via mail. The South Point sign-up stations will be operating every day from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
Since Governor Sisolak shut down casinos back in March, the South Point mobile betting app had been turned off but it’s sprung back to action now that it’s taking in new players.
Circa Sports and William Hill Follow Suit
Unlike South Point, the Circa Sports mobile app has been live all through the shutdown for existing members, but the sports betting company hasn’t been able to accept new members. Thankfully, new patrons can now sign up for accounts through a Circa Sports drive-thru service that started operating today, on Thursday. The service will be open every day starting from 10.00 am to 6:00 pm.
Customers are not only allowed to create new accounts and deposit money into existing accounts by they can also enter the Circa Survivor, Circa Sports Million II, and two NFL handicap contests for a grand each. On top of that, Circa Sports is also accepting winning or reimbursed tickets but players have to load the cash into their betting accounts because employees aren’t allowed to carry money outside. This also means that all new player deposits have to be made in exact amounts for players who prefer cashing in over the counter as they won’t be receiving any change to prevent passing around of money. For existing members of the platform, transactions can be carried out via the Circa Sports mobile app.
Last week, William hill also announced that it will open four drive-thru sign-up stations in the parking lots of Sierra Sid’s Casino, Arizona Charlie’s Decatur, Arizona Charlie’s Boulder, and Alamo Casino. The registration stations will be operational on Friday and Saturday starting 11:00 am to 5:00 pm to allow new registration and funding of accounts for newly registered players.
