Top 10 Slots We Could Definitely Live Without
By Ivan Potocki Jan 03, 2019 OpinionFrom simply weird, over creepy, to plain disgusting, these are some of the strangest video slots we’ve ever seen and we could easily do without. We all appreciate a good new slot with a brand new feature, a new theme, or a fresh take on an old theme. Although there are thousands of slots out there already, you can never have too many choices or too much versatility. Or, can you?
Although a majority of video slots do help contribute to the wealth of our online gambling experience, every now and then, game creators seem to take things too far or in a direction that just doesn't make much sense. With that in mind, here's our selection of top 10 slots we could definitely live without.
Dictator
Created by Betsense, the Dictator slot features prominent dictators from history and from the modern era. Clearly, the developer wanted to create a sarcastic game, where players get a chance to eliminate some of the most hated characters to have ever lived over and over again, fire away nuclear missiles, and more.
While Dictator can be somewhat entertaining to play for a few spins, it is one of the slots we could definitely do without. Staring the likes of Hitler, Saddam Hussein, Stalin, and the rest of the merry bunch, the game is just a bit too much.
Stinky Socks
Developed by Spinomenal, Stinky Socks slot is actually a nicely designed game with quite a few entertaining features and mini-bonus games. Howevever, all of this is somewhat negated by the game’s name. It just doesn’t help create positive feelings you’d like from a slot. If they’d gone with something like “Colorful Socks” or “Fluffy Socks,” the game would have probably garnered much more success.
Fitness Automaten
There is nothing wrong with little weird. In fact, in moderation, weird can be fun. But Danish developer Gamblify has taken things to a whole new level of weirdness with their Fitness Automaten slot. Blending cartoonish animations with real-life photos and setting the game action inside a gym, this slot is actually quite funny but the animations of the fat guy and the fit lady speaking, with their heads weirdly splitting while doing so, are just too much. Thanks, but no thanks.
Karabakh
The wealth of different themes is one of things that make discovering new video slots so much entertaining. However, these themes need to be at least somewhat relatable and understandable for the wider audience.
Karabakh slot from Betsense takes players to Karabakh, a war-plagued region in Armenia. If you’ve never heard about it, don’t feel bad, as you’re not the only one. It just seems like developers had a bad idea day when they came up with this one and thought it would somehow turn out to be a huge hit with the players. It didn’t.
Monster Sushi
There is nothing wrong with slots featuring foods and drinks; or slots featuring an Asian theme; or horror-themed slots – you get the picture. But when you try to smash it all together in one single game, you might end up with a weird game where you have no clue what the hell is going on.
That’s exactly what Monster Sushi by AGames is like. There is fish and monsters and traditional Japanese music – and whatever else you can think of. There is just so much happening on the reels while the actual game doesn’t offer that much fun at all. Some players might still like the game, but it is fair to say the online gambling community wouldn’t be hurt in any way if Monster Sushi slot had never been released. After all, we don’t want to think about our food in association with some disgusting, snake-like, probably alien monsters.
Some developers just love to push the boundaries of what’s acceptable and Endorphina is definitely one of the leaders in this particular group. Many of their releases are a bit out there and, for the most part, they manage to pull it off.
However, with their Taboo slot, they might have taken it a notch too far. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a slot revolving entirely around sex as the online gambling industry caters to adults after all. There is a fine line here, though, and the game that celebrates S&M sex with symbols like high heels, whips, handcuffs, and chokers might be just across that line.
To be fair, although most players could definitely do without the Taboo slot, there is no doubt at least a few players love it. No judgment here.
Wild School
Talking about slots with a sexy theme, Wild School slot from PlayPearls doesn’t just cross the line; it goes so far beyond the line that the line becomes a dot. The game focuses on three sexy Asian school girls and, while the symbols on the reels are definitely provocative, it does seem to play like an ordinary slot.
Until you hit a bonus, that is, where your goal is basically to give your chosen girl compliments with a single simple aim – to get her undressed! Once again, no judgment on anyone’s sexual preferences, but there is time and place for everything and mixing a video slot with a weird fetish adult game just doesn’t do the trick. Is it a slot, is it an adult game, do you play to win money or for a completely different reason?
Maniac House
Many people like thrillers and horror movies. Likewise, many players enjoy horror-themed slots, which is why there are so many available online. However, when things turn to gore, it is very easy to cross the line and just go too far.
It is fair to say that Fugaso had taken things way, way too far with their Maniac House slot. Bloody knives, hopped off limbs, plucked out eyes, scary, life-like screams disturbing the silence of the night – it all adds up to the game that would hardly inspire players to go back to it after playing it once. We get they wanted to go “out of the box” with this one but it’s just too sick.
Customs Storage
Just because anything can serve as a theme for a slot it doesn’t mean everything should. Belatra’s Customs Storage slot tries to get players excited about contents of cardboard boxes in a customs warehouse.
Apparently, people are shipping gold, diamonds, designer watches, and all sorts of expensive items left and right – or so would game designers would like us to believe. This is your typical “luxury life” style of game but the theme just doesn’t make sense. And, to be completely honest, not much work was put towards graphics or gameplay, either.
First Love
It could be a cultural thing, but condoms, sex toys, and dirty magazines aren’t exactly what comes to mind when thinking about first love. Yet, the First Love slot by Spade Gaming is filled with these symbols, apparently telling us a love story about a schoolgirl and her teacher.
It is another game that drives its inspiration from the anime culture and it is just plain weird and creepy. There is more than enough of this type of content all over the internet, so do we really need it in slots as well?
Still Fancy a Go?
Although these games are definitely weird and out there, some of them might be worth a try, depending on your specific taste. So, don’t let this article discourage you from giving one or two of them a bash if you feel like it. Once you get past all the weirdness, some of these slots can actually be a lot of fun to play!
