Double Attack Blackjack
Overview
Double Attack Blackjack is one of the modern types of blackjack that enhances the original rules with a couple of new game mechanics. Inspired by the Spanish 21 blackjack variety, it allows players to double the original bet while only paying even money on blackjack.
These two rules are meant to offset each other, so the house edge remains low without granting players an unfair advantage.
At Double Attack Blackjack online casinos players can also place a side bet called Bust It. The name speaks for itself, since players only win if the dealer goes bust with three cards. These bets will pay out different amounts and can lead to a return on investment of as much as 200 times the stakes. This best case scenario occurs only if dealers go bust with suited 888, which obviously doesn’t happen too often.
Double Attack Blackjack Rules and How to Play
The basic blackjack rules still apply to Double Attack Blackjack, but it is the different ones that make this game special. Online casinos offering them will use 8 Spanish decks with just 48 cards and will compel dealers to stand on a soft 17 hand. The dealer will peek for blackjack, while players can split any pairs including aces and then double the bet. The downside is that split aces receive a single card.
Widely regarded as a bad choice, insurance is slightly better at Double Attack Blackjack because it pays 5 to 2. The main difference is that players get to see the first card dealt to the dealer and place an additional bet called the Double Attack. The maximum amount that players are allowed to wager can’t exceed the original bet and if players split pairs later on, they must match the double attack bet as well.
