How Today's Technology Will Revolutionise Tomorrow's Online Gambling Experience
By Shane Addinall Mar 31, 2024With inventions like Disney’s HoloTile Flooring and Sora’s AI video creation potential, the gambling industry could be revolutionised, ensuring a more lifelike and authentic gaming experience.A quick comparison between today's online casino industry and when it first started will instantly reveal how much the industry has evolved.
Not all casinos are the same, but by embracing the latest technology, operators are slowly but surely bridging the gap in the gaming experience between land-based casinos and online casinos. The industry is maturing with a clear focus on enhancing the user experience and implementing safety measures.
Technology: Inspired By the World Around Us
Technology is a wonderful thing. Our favourite movies, like Iron Man and X-Men or even Ready Player One, can quickly inspire technological advancements. With the innovation of operators and game creators in this industry, it’s almost as if nothing is off the table and everything is possible.
In Ready Player One, we jump to 2045, where most of humanity uses OASIS, a virtual reality simulation, to escape reality. The film focuses on a teenage orphan on a mission to uncover all the clues of a contest that could make him the owner of OASIS if he wins. Of course, he has plenty of challenges and has to fight the evil corporation to claim the winner title and ownership of the virtual reality.
And what about the X-Men Danger Room? This training facility was built for the X-Men as part of the incarnations of the X-Mansion. It trains the X-Men through holographics, which project different scenarios, such as flamethrowers, firing devices, and other mechanical dangers.
Each day, something new pops up, and pretty soon, we might actually get to live in a way that embraces the virtual world in the same way it was displayed in those films. That someday may actually be closer than we think if you’re keeping up with the latest developments like Disney’s HoloTile and Sora’s AI video creation. Could we be looking at a future with Holodeck home casinos?
Instant Engagement
The advancements of Sora will no doubt play a big role in the advancements in online casinos and the walk towards a holodeck online casino. If you combine Sora with Elon Musk’s Neuralink, there’s no telling what you’ll be able to experience.
What is Neuralink? It’s a brain-chip implant with a lot of potential. With this implant, a disabled person can navigate his computer and even play online chess or other games simply by using brain power. No, it’s not magic; it’s science.
When Neuralink is combined with language learning models like ChatGPT, it has the potential to conjure up realistic-looking and engaging casino environments. Instead of typing out a text prompt, you can fill the empty space with everything from people to animals using brain power.
Prompts Brought to Life
Now imagine combining Sora and Neuralink. Instead of having to wear virtual glasses, you’ll be able to control your virtual casino experience via your mind, making your needs clear and allowing the technology to respond accordingly. Who knows, you may even get as ridiculous as playing blackjack on Mars. The world is yours to create and change as you please.
There’s so much potential in successfully combining these technologies. Already, Sora works to bring your thoughts to life thanks to OpenAI’s latest project, Sora. With this text-to-video generative AI model, a quick text prompt can be instantly transformed into a lifelike video rendition. You’re literally bringing your thoughts to life. And the lifelike visuals add to the authenticity of the experience.
The technology has a lot of potential in the world of online gambling. It will go even further once it can use blockchain to share and store data, giving you the opportunity to bring your desired gambling setting to life. It may even reskin the games you’re playing, for instance, changing your environment so you find yourself shooting arrows out of bows in a medieval world instead of playing darts at the pub.
By implementing the payout mechanism of slots for random things like packing away dishes or catching fish, you can rake in different payouts based on the size of the fish or the items you’re packing into the cupboard.
Walk This Way
You might be asking why there is a need for HoloTile flooring. Well, it plays a vital role in creating a more immersive, engaging virtual environment.
Think about it: While VR has greatly boosted the virtual gaming experience, it has its limits. With little to no resistance, the lifelike experience is not where it can be. While you see different environments via your headset, there is no resistance, so you remain aware of where you are and what you’re doing. With the new HoloTile flooring created by industry giants like Lanny Smoot, you have the opportunity to get immersed in virtual reality.
According to Smoot, his inspiration came from Star Trek. Smooth stated that while virtual reality makes some parts of the holodeck possible in terms of visuals, there was the issue of getting to experience a more immersive walk while in a 24ft by 24ft room. It’s the limitations that set his mind racing, and he looked for different ways to move things on the floor.
Smooth has over 106 patents under his belt, and the Hall of Famer is nowhere close to ending his time of creating new and exciting things for others to enjoy. So, he tackled the problem by creating an omnidirectional treadmill embedded in the floor. The treadmill can shift and guide you, keeping you walking within its perimeter.
How does it work? While Disney won’t give a clear answer on the exact mechanism, it uses hundred-tile-like discs that respond to inputs from the lidar-based sensors, nullifying your attempts to walk off it. It gives the illusion of walking in various directions without ever leaving the surface.
When implemented in online casinos, this idea can allow you to socialise with other players and move from one casino game to the next. You might even get to leave the casino floor to go outside for a quick break on the balcony. The possibilities of this technological advancement break barriers and, when incorporated into online gaming, can lead to a more lifelike experience.
As Far As The Eye Can See
Imagine a world where you don’t need glasses to experience 3D displays. A world where we can enjoy 3D holographic projections the way they did in Bladerunner 2049.
From our recently posted article on glasses-free 3D monitors and their impact on the industry, it’s safe to say that being able to view and experience three-dimensional effects will greatly revolutionise online casino entertainment.
Think about it, you’ll watch your favourite slot characters appear almost lifelike as they pop off the screen. And you’ll have the option of enjoying all of this without having to wear special headsets or glasses.
We can’t wait to see what the future truly holds for the online gambling space, but we know it’s going to be an exciting time that we won’t want to miss!
