New Gambling Game Developer Bitblox Focuses Exclusively on On-Chain Games
By Shane Addinall May 24, 2023 TechnologyBitblox steps in to provide the underserved crypto-gambling vertical. The development team plans to create blockchain-first on-chain games that will allow for both competing against the house and your fellow players. With the incredible value proposition associated with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and the significant strides made to bridge the gap between the online casino and crypto sectors, it might surprise you that the casino game development niche is severely underserved.
It is not that no games of chance are being developed for crypto gambling but rather that the number of on-chain development studios is exceptionally lean.
Filling the Crypto Gaming Gap
Recognising that there is an opportunity to carve out a place in a burgeoning gambling vertical, a new blockchain-first development studio, Bitblox Games, was launched earlier this month.
Bitblox CEO Brandt Page said:
Quote“Bitblox dramatically expands the scope of what igaming can be. Blockchain-based gaming provides additional transparency to igaming operators while giving players the ability to bet in new and engaging ways.”
The games will be hosted on the Hxro Network. The network is well known within the trading and online betting sector as a leading distributed liquidity layer for on-chain applications. This proven history makes it the ideal partner for what Bitblox aims to achieve with its games of chance.
Hxro co-founder Dan Gunsberg said:
Quote“On-chain gaming is a surprisingly underserved subset of the multibillion-dollar global igaming market. Bitblox will bring the online gambling industry into the Web3 era, supporting Hxro Network’s goal to be the world’s largest on-chain source of derivatives and igaming liquidity.”
It comes as no surprise that there is a tremendous amount of trust between Page and Gunsberg, as well as a deep understanding of how their various products mesh, given that Page was the former Vice President of Business Development at Hxro Games.
Hot New May Game Showcase
Bitblox is showcasing its first gambling game at the Casino Beats 2023 igaming conference this month. The launch title is called Up or Down and is being promoted as follows:
Quote“Will the price of Bitcoin go Up or Down in the next minute? Our flagship product! A simple crypto game with 24/7 short-term markets to provide more revenue opportunities.”
The format is simple players get to wager on whether the upcoming Bitcoin price will be “locked in” above or below the current price. A new benchmark price is secured every minute, allowing players to take their time in determining their position and setting their bet levels.
Each bet comes with variable odds, which are shown at the betting stage. Once the new price is set, winners are paid out, and the next round begins.
The official Bitblox website also features logos for three additional upcoming titles: Token Strike, Price Pullers, and Crypto Nags. There is no news on these releases' gameplay mechanics and bet settings. We know the developer plans to release games with peer-to-peer (p2p) betting options where you can play against other players and not just the house.
Because Token Striker looks much like the vintage video game Pong and the Price Pullers logo has two characters contesting one another, we speculate that these two titles offer p2p gambling.
