iGaming Bosses Go Toe-To-Toe In The 2020 SBC Charity Boxing Championship
By Shane Addinall Feb 06, 2020 IndustryApril 2020 will showcase the inaugural SBC Charity Boxing Championship. The star-studded event will include a champagne reception, 3-course meal, celebrity hosts, professional referees and 12 iGaming execs giving it their all – for 6 minutes.Ever since Connor McGregor decided to challenge world champion, Floyd Mayweather, to a boxing match, arguably one of the biggest fight cards of the century in terms of its mass appeal, boxing has seen a resurgence.
Not long after the historic MMA versus Boxing fight we saw the testosterone fuelled bouts between rival Youtubers KSI and Logan Paul. Both bouts were considered professional boxing matches, albeit in the white-collar amateur sense of the word.
SBC Charity Boxing Event
Now it is the turn of the iGaming sector to turn their attention to the Beautiful Science as SBC, in partnership with the Oliver’s Wish Foundation, host the SBC Charity Boxing Championship in London April 3rd, 2020.
The event promises to be a showstopper with celebrity hosts, professional boxing judges and referees and no less than 12 of the biggest names in iGaming duking out in the ring – all to raise money for charity.
Even if you’re not into blood sports but are willing to support for the event for the sake of the charities involved the evening includes a champagne reception, extravagant entertainment of the non-boxing variety, a world-class 3-course meal and of course complimentary drinks.
Ten-seater tables for the charity boxing event, and access to the exclusive after party, which is to be held at the Grand Ballroom of the London Hilton on Park Lane begin at a modest £4000, with a VIP Ringside Table going for £6000.
What Is On The Card?
The SBC Charity Boxing Championship fight card for the evening will include 6 bouts, with each bout being 3 rounds of 2-minutes each.
The 6 bouts will be fought as follows:
- Bout #1: Leon Thomas (Microgaming Managing - Director) vs Nick Wright (Gamesys - Business Development)
- Bout #2: Mark Woollard (Pragmatic Play - Director) vs Bryan Blake (HexoPay - CEO)
- Bout #3: Sergey Portnov (Parimatch - CEO) vs Luke Cousins (Koneski - Gaming Advisors)
- Bout #4: Michael Brady (Bede Gaming – Founder) vs Tony Plaskow (Black Cow Technology - Director)
- Bout #5: Brandon Walker (Amelco – Development Manager) vs Jan Urbanec (Endorphina - CEO)
- Bout #6: Daniel Beard (Partis Solutions – Partner) vs Vasilije Lekovic (Trustly – Director)
Not a short order considering these are all white-collar professionals doing this for charity. You are guaranteed to enjoy the sight of big hits and panting professionals as they wage war for the longest 6 minutes of their lives.
Who Stands To Benefit?
While it will be an absolute blast to see these high-powered execs wailing on, or flapping at, each other for several minutes the reason this even exists is to benefit three outstanding charities:
- Cystic Fibrosis Trust – “The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity dedicated to fighting for a life unlimited by cystic fibrosis (CF) for everyone affected by the condition. Since we started in 1964 we have dedicated ourselves to promoting excellence in research and clinical care, as well as providing practical support and advice to people with CF and their families.”
- SUDC UK – “SUDC UK is a charity dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC). It also funds research to better understand and prevent these tragedies.”
- Sparks Children’s Medical Research Charity – “Since 1991, Sparks has funded over £30 million of research into over 80 childhood conditions. These include childhood cancers, epilepsy, spina bifida, Crohn’s disease, Down’s syndrome, Krabbe disease, cerebral palsy and the risks associated with premature birth.”
These are only a few among many worthy causes that could do with financial support and helping hands. Perhaps consider supporting a local organisation near you through your business or with your time.
