Paying in a New Way with Pay N Play ®: Interview with Trustly's Vasilije Lekovic
By GP News Team Jan 28, 2019 IndustryTrustly's Pay N Play ® aims to simplify the process of online casino deposits and withdrawals. We sat down with Trustly's Vasilije Lekovic in order to understand exactly why and how is it the next thing in online casino payments.Almost for as long as online gambling has been around, there's been one thing that almost all players have complained about the most – verification procedures and waiting for their withdrawals to arrive. Everybody loves to win at an online casino but the process of sending documents, waiting for them to be verified, and sometimes having to go back and forth with the casino support is often too long.
This is especially true in the world that is moving faster than ever and people have become accustomed to having things right here and right now. On the other hand, gambling regulations and KYC procedures have never been stricter. The online payments solutions provider Trustly has come up with a system that could overcome all these obstacles in one clean sweep with their Pay N Play ® product.
We asked Trustly’s Director of Gaming Accounts Vasilije Lekovic a few questions in an attempt to understand Pay N Play ® and its impact on the industry.
What is Pay N Play ® all about, how and why it came to be, what gap did it come to fill, and what is the most innovative feature it brings to the industry?
Pay N Play ® is the innovative product that was introduced by Trustly in 2015 and it took the gaming industry by storm. This product enables a frictionless experience to the players on gaming websites, allowing them to gamble without the completing the lengthy registration forms, creating usernames/passwords or sending passport copies/utility bills to verify themselves. All the user needs is to have a bank account.
Once on the homepage of the gaming website that has implemented Pay N Play ®, the user is starting his journey by depositing directly from his bank using Trustly. During that process, Trustly in the background collects the KYC data on the user from his bank and other third-party sources and sends this information to the operator that creates a player account for the user. After the deposit is completed, the player is prompted straight to the games, with his player account ready and a balance on it. It's truly fast, simple and secure.
The most innovative feature of Pay N Play ® is the significantly improved user experience via the KYC data collection and automated player account creation in combination with the instant deposit and withdrawal. Moreover, the fact that a player doesn’t need a username and password to log in, but only his e-banking credentials, improves further the user experience.
Why should an operator want to integrate your solution? What can you share about the integration process?
The integration of Pay N Play ® is not very complex, especially if the operator has already integrated the regular Trustly deposits and withdrawals. If that is the case, adding Pay N Play ® requires only adding some additional API calls.
We at Trustly believe that the operators should integrate Pay N Play ® because it brings a significant revenue increase, improves the user experience, player acquisition and retention and simplifies the process of player verification.
Since it's a relatively new service, how is the feedback so far from operators and players alike?
The feedback about Pay N Play ® from the industry is fantastic! We are currently live with 55 brands and the product has become the industry standard in Sweden and it’s growing significantly in other markets, too. Our analysis and the feedback from the operators and players has shown that a significant number of players is moving away from the traditional gaming websites towards the ones with Pay N Play ®.
Where is Pay N Play ® available right now and where are you planning on expanding in 2019? What are your general plans for 2019?
Pay N Play ® is currently available in several European markets and we are preparing to launch the product in Denmark shortly. We'll be adding more markets this year, so stay tuned!
Moreover, I’d like to add that we’re bringing more innovation to Pay N Play ® product by introducing the In-banner Pay N Play ® product. In-banner Pay N Play ® combines the capabilities of Pay N Play ® with the needs of the operators to maximize the results from their marketing budget spend. Through this innovative feature, the players will be able to deposit, register and even play in a banner on top of the affiliate or media website.
Trustly has soft-launched the In-banner Pay N Play ® in December 2018 and we are currently in discussions and integration with multiple affiliates and operators to launch this product across multiple brands and gaming products this year.
What are the biggest obstacles that you've faced or are facing in terms of expansion are they more of a technical nature or also legislative issues in order to expand internationally?
When we launched the product, not every operator was ready for this level of innovation. However, after launching the first couple of brands and seeing their success stories, the rest of the market followed.
Apart from that, in rolling out this product across Europe we’re often facing technical obstacles such as not enough advanced banking networks that prevent full KYC data collection. However, we’re constantly working on improving our product and finding solutions and partners that can help us with solving this issue.
Last but not least, more and more markets are getting regulated and before launching the product in one market, we need the approval from the local regulator. This sometimes takes time but we had a lot of success so far in persuading the regulators that our product adds value and additional quality to their users and operators.
Thank you Vasilije for taking the time to answer our questions and best of luck with Pay N Play ®!
